Download million books for free

The e-book subscription service that offers more than 1 million books to digital-age bibilophiles for a flat monthly fee, is going retail.

Oyster is basically the Netflix or Spotify of books. You subscribe to the service for $9.95 a month, and in return get to read any and all of the 500,000+ books in Oyster's library at any time. The app has been around for a while now, but only recently has it gained Android support.
The subscription model for services has been rather quickly replacing just about any source of entertainment in your life in recent years, but the far older book publishing industry hasn't been quick to catch up. As with any subscription service, content providers (in this case authors) generally scoff at the concept of foregoing traditional sales in favor of a wishy-washy rental service. But as with music, movies, and television, it turns out that on average, popular subscription services scale large enough to make it a worthwhile endeavor.

What really confuses us is how Amazon dropped the ball on this one. This should really be their wheelhouse, and the fact that they couldn't create the 'it' product in this space is a bit baffling given their history and reliance on books and reading.
